Secretary Singson monitors Calabarzon projects thru a 'visit'

DPWH Regional Office IV-A becomes busy on May 11, 2012 when Sec. Rogelio Singson made a visit, met with officials of the regional office and also attended by District Engineers of the fifteen (15) district and sub-district offices in Calabarzon. The main purpose of the meeting was for the Secretary to personally monitor the progress of project implementation of CY 2011-2012 projects in said region. Salient policies of the department especially on budget expenditures were also discussed, in line with the Secretary's commitment to President Benigno Aquino III, such as fast tracking of project implementation nationwide, focusing on infrastructure projects' tourist destinations and those with tourism potentials. Aware that implementation of infraprojects of various national  government agencies are sometimes hampered by problems on the acquisition of road right-of-way, the Secretary also informed that there is a proposed legislation which consolidates various procedures for expropriation of private property so that all agencies will utilize a single law for expropriation of private property for public use. Before ending of the meeting, Regional and DEO personnel were also encouraged to raise issues and concerns. During the discussion, Singson assured that he and the members of the Management Committee are supportive with regard to their relations with the national and local government officials considering that the campaign season for the 2013 elections are about to begin. "This successful undertaking is the very first the Secretary has presided over a meeting with regional office personnel and with us district engineers," observed DE Carlito Jose of Cavite's Tagaytay Sub-district engineering office.
