PHILIPPINE HISTORICAL TIMELINE is a timeline of Philippine history showing the development and advancement of Filipinos and how they progress throughout time.

      The Revolutionary Government was established without the customary elections on 17 April 1897 with Aguinaldo completing his Cabinet members through appointment.

December 25 The inauguration of all-Filipino only movie releases on cinemas nationwide by Metropolitan Film Festival (change in 1977 as Metro Manila Film Festival/MMFF) to promote local movies and culture. The only one of a kind in the world showing during on this kind of season.

December 25 Dr. Jose Rizal addressed in a letter his defense attorney, Luis Taviel de Andrade at Fort Santiago, Manila-on his prison cell in Fort Santiago, by this statement:- “I have been waiting for you this morning to speak with you about an important matter, but undoubtedly your pursuits did not permit you to come. If you have time to spare, I should like to speak with you before I appear before the council. I would appreciate it very much, this afternoon, this evening, or tomorrow morning".(source: Last days of Rizal).

*December 25, 1897-Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo and Pedro Paterno and others went to Lingayen Pangasinan to aboard a Spanish steamship onwards to Hong Kong for exile in conformance to Biak na Bato truce of surrendering to Spanish authority the Philippine revolution after the agreed indemnification and damage pay of Spanish authority to the Philippines. 
*December 25, 1901-Date set by US Gen. Franklin Bell as deadline for residents of Lipa Batangas and nearby towns to live inside concentration camps for quelling of Filipino guerillas and for the capture of Filipino Gen. Miguel Malvar during Philippine-American War.
*December 25, 1918-Typhoon Quantico hit the Philippines with very unusual track never recorded before in the history of world meteorology typhoon tracking and never duplicated until now.
*December 25,1924-businessman Henry Sy,owner of SM malls & others, The wealthiest person in the Philippines, was born in 1924.
*December 25,1926-Hirohito,The then emperor of Japan when Japan invaded the Philippines in 1940's,was crowned to the throne. 
*December 25, 1928-Former senator Mamintal Tamano was born.
*December 25,1941. Gen. Douglas MacArthur declared Manila as an “open city” but the Japanese ignored and still continued its attack.
*December 25, 1964-Criminal Jurisdiction under US-Philippines Military bases agreement took effect after the signing of the truce of then Pres.Diosdado Macapagal and US Sec.Blair.
Dec.25, 1968-Fernando Poe Jr, dubbed as King of Philippine movie and Susan Roces,actress, were wed on December 25, 1968, at Sanctuario de San Jose in Greenhills, San Juan. 
*December 25, 1971- Prime Minister Justine Trudeau of Canada,popular to Filipino women because of good looks was born.
*December 25, 1975-This is the first Christmas date when Filipino workers tasted the benefit of 13th month pay when the then Pres. Ferdinand Marcos decreed to have all Filipino workers must receive 13th month pay when he signed the law on December 16, 1975 by virtue of Presidential decree number 851 obliging all employers to pay 13th month compensation to their employees not later than December 24 of every year.

*December 25, 2005- Former Senator Robert Barbers (b.1944) died.
*December 25, 2012-Bohol congressman Erico Aumentado died.
*December 25, 2016-Typhoon Nina (International name Nock-Ten hit the Philippines particularly Bicol region)-the most intense typhoon happened on Northtwest Pacific region that falls on December 25 date(others are Typhoon Hester in 1952 and Susan in 1963).
*December 25, 2016- PBA team Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Star Hotshots squared off in Philippine arena, This is the second time this basketball league held its game in this giant arena, it was attended by 25,000 persons.The event was repeated again exactly one year later on the game between Barangay Ginebra versus Magnolia Hotshots.
*December 25, 2017- Presidential son & vice mayor Paolo Duterte file & announce his letter of resignation as Davao City Vice mayor.
