End Stage Renal Failure Story │Dialysis │Peritoneal │Hemodialysis

Dialysis is a medical process through which a person's blood is cleansed of the toxins the kidneys normally would flush out. It is generally used when a person's kidneys no longer function properly. This can be a result of congenital kidney disease, long-term diabetes, highblood pressure or other conditions. In my mom's case she suffered a long time medication for her high blood pressure.

Date: of Confinement: April 07, 2004
Date of Discharge: April 09,2004
St. Martin Hospital, Noveleta, Cavite

• Synopsis:
- We Rush our mother to the hospital because of grave pain, she was kicking her feet and shouting in pain/ seeking for help: "Dalhin nyo 'ko sa hospitaaaal" She was saying the words with teeth grinding against each other. This is the first time I saw it from her.
- Before she was taking medicines to normalize her High Blood Pressure

- They treat her high blood problem and they didn't even saw the problem with her kidneys; we weren't advice or alerted of any possible problems, that was the calibre of the doctors she consulted during that days...  after a few days we are back at the hospital.

Dr. Vista advice us that her kidney is failing and the cost of the medicine that they need to treat her kidney cost Php5,000 per bag; that bag od liquid solution is color yellow and very expensive. But that does not solve the problem and doctors advice ua for a peritoneal dialysis.

Peritoneal Dialysis is a process of cleaning the body by putting a tubing somewhere the patients belly then approximately 2x a day (or more) should we have to feed the tube with peritoneal solution for cleansing and after a certain number of minutes we need to flush it out  from the tube. This proceedure is very costly and pretty tiresome.

After  couple of months doctors advice us that she switch to Hemodialysis.

Haemodialysis (also hemodialysis) is a method for removing waste products such as creatinine and urea, as well as free water from the blood when the kidneys are in renal failure. This procedure is much convenient than peritoneal but the travel to the clinic and hospital is tiresome. Unlike Peritoneal the guardian of the patient is doing all the work  but in hemodialysis the nurses are doing all the work.
