What is the MMFF?
The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is the Philippines’ biggest and most anticipated annual film event, organized by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Founded: 1975; held nationwide every December 25 to early January.

Core rule: During this period, cinemas show only MMFF-approved Filipino films (except IMAX/3D) to give local cinema a dedicated run.

Goal: Promote Filipino stories, support local filmmakers, and boost the domestic film industry.

Highlights:

• - Parade of Stars: Cast/crew on themed floats before opening.
• - Gabi ng Parangal: Awards night for Best Picture, acting, directing, and more.
• - Usually 8 official entries picked for quality, cultural value, and audience appeal.
